Photos: Radiohead played Prudential Center

Prudential Center, Newark, NJ, 5.31.2012 – A year ago, Radiohead played Roseland Ballroom, a venue that holds about 2500 people, on back to back nights.  While they did that show to give their fans an intimate treat, a mere year later they sold out 2 nights at Prudential Center, a venue that holds 19,000 people.  Prudential Center gave them avenue to put on a big stage show with an extra band member, a huge LCD screen behind them, and multiple smaller LCDs that moved around throughout the performance.  Touring in support of The King of Limbs, here are my pics of Radiohead from the night.

You would think that these arena shows would have good lighting.  They don’t always.  It wasn’t necessarily bad for Radiohead, but it wasn’t good.  I still ended up shooting the show at iso 3200, although I could have gotten away with 1600 easily.  But since the 5DII handles 3200 well, I just set it and forget it.  It was the saturated blues, greens and magentas that make it a tougher shoot.  The goal is to get skin tones correct and I did my best in post to do that without compromising the mood of the stage lighting.
