Photos: Rascal Flatts at Izod Center 2.18.12

Izod Center, East Rutherford, NJ, 2.18.12 – Rascal Flatts is one of the biggest selling country groups of all time.  With 20 million albums sold, they hit the road again in support of their 2010 #1 country album, Nothing Like This, their 6th straight number one album.  East Rutherford has never seen so many boots and cowboy hats as when Rascal Flatts sold out the Izod Center this past Saturday.  Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes made their final appearance on the “Thaw Out Tour” as well.  Rascal Flatts is preparing to release their next album “Changed” on April 3rd before heading out to tour yet again.  You can pre-order the album here.

Arena shows will usually bless you with good lighting and tonight was no exception.  I shot Rascal Flatts around iso2000 the entire set and could have gotten away with less.  But with the great high iso ability of both my bodies, why bother.  With a main stage, a catwalk and a front stage, you needed a wide lens and some good reach with at least a mid-telephoto like a 70-200.

What made it tough shooting tonight was the spot they gave us.  Normally we have a formal photo pit at Izod Center, but Rascal Flatts likes to make their fans part of the show so we were in an odd spot in between the first row and front stage with no barricade.  And since the video camera operator, along with a grip and a security guard, were floating in front of the stage, we had to compete with the crowd which only slowed us down.
