Promo: Frank (Band) in Gowanus Brooklyn

With a release date in January set for their new album, Frank was looking for some band portraits to include in their upcoming promotional campaign.  We met up at their studio in Gowanus Brooklyn and ventured out amongst a bustling background of weekend warriors.

We found a couple of spots we liked.  This shoot was a fairly simple set-up.  I use a Calumet Genesis 300b light system for location work.  The 300b comes with its own battery pack and gets over 200 shots at full power, so since I was shooting around 25% power all day, no need to worry about battery life.  I mount an 82″ Paul C. Buff Parabolic Light Modifier (PLM) to my light on my light stand, and set up a couple of Fotodiox 40×60″ 5-in-1 Oval Reflectors for some fill.  Camera was the trusty Canon 5D Mark II and I used the same lens all day, a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L.  We shot a couple of different looks and agreed on these few for use.  2 looks with a couple of different treatments depending on use.

A fun one
